NOTE:
In this dance, Brian uses a combination of 32 beat, and 64 beat "GRAND" figures, most of which
are not part of any Cal erlab program (Basic, M/S, Plus, etc.). However, occasional use of this style of
Singing Cal can provide interesting, and valuable variety to a cal er's program.
If these types of figures are not usual y part of your regular dance program, and you intend to use this
singing cal , I would suggest that you introduce some of the "Grand" figures in earlier tips (2 or 3 +
Grand Square are usual y enough), so the dancers are familiar with them before cal ing this dance don't
try to teach them al at once, then expect your dancers to be able to remember them for the next dance
number.
Because of the type of choreography, when cal ing this "CALLER'S HOLIDAY" type of singing cal , I
recommend not having a change of partner (no partner progression). For the INTRODUCTION, BREAK, and
CLOSER sections, I usual y cal one of the 64 beat figures, and for each of the four FIGURES I cal two 32 beat
Grand figures. Helpful "cues" are given on the vocal track during most of the dance.
Detailed definitions for al the various "GRAND" figures can be found on-line in "Burleson's Square Dancer's
Encyclopedia" there are lots I've listed some I consider to be the better choices.
